ECG Launches Nationwide Debt Recovery Exercise to Collect Unpaid Electricity Bills

On Monday, 9 November 2026, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) began a nationwide mass revenue mobilisation exercise aimed at recovering unpaid electricity bills from all customers. The campaign will run through Friday, 27 November, and will target residential, commercial, industrial users as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies with arrears.

In a notice released on Saturday, 7 November, ECG urged customers to settle their outstanding balances before the exercise to avoid disconnection and additional reconnection fees. The company warned that those who engage in illegal connections, interfere with operations or attempt unauthorised self‑reconnection after disconnection would be apprehended and prosecuted.

Special teams will monitor the exercise, and ECG has advised customers who cannot access their bills to visit the nearest ECG office for assistance. The company encourages the use of its approved payment channels, including the ECG Mobile App, to settle amounts due. Customers needing help can call ECG’s contact centre at 0302611611 or reach out via social media.
