The National Democratic Congress’ Functional Executive Committee (FEC) issued a directive on Saturday, November 7, 2026, demanding that the Central Regional Executive Committee reach a collective decision on the party’s upcoming conference venue by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9. The FEC stated that the choice must reflect either the collective agreement of the committee or the majority position of its members, and must not be based on the unilateral position of individual officers or any faction within the committee.
In the directive, the FEC urged all factions and members to set aside differences, engage in constructive deliberations and reach a common position in the interest of the party. “Accordingly, all factions and members of the Regional Executive Committee are urged to put aside their differences, engage in constructive deliberations and reach a common position in the interest of the Party,” the document read.
The FEC warned that failure to communicate a decision within the stipulated timeframe would leave it with no option but to determine the venue itself and formally notify the region. The Central Regional Chairman has until the specified deadline to submit the agreed venue to the FEC.
Observers note that the dispute has raised questions about intra‑party unity ahead of the upcoming regional conference. The outcome will be closely watched by party loyalists and political analysts alike.
