The Oti Regional Police Command intercepted an articulated truck registered GE 3906-15 on September 14, 2026, after intelligence indicated it was carrying narcotic substances hidden in secret compartments. The DAF truck was seized at a checkpoint on the N6, and a search of the concealed spaces revealed 5,164 compressed round parcels suspected to be drugs.

Three individuals were arrested: 35‑year‑old driver Abdul Razak Adamu, 33‑year‑old mechanic Jubril Amidu, and 33‑year‑old driver Aliu Adamu. A fourth occupant, Adamu Iddi, escaped the scene. The three suspects were arraigned before the Dambai Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Dr Moses Bedima Duut, on September 17, 2026, and were remanded into police custody to reappear on October 15, 2026.

The police have impounded the truck and secured the parcels as evidence. Investigators are continuing efforts to locate the escaped suspect and identify any other persons connected to the consignment. The Oti Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting narcotics trafficking and organised crime, urging the public to provide credible information to aid the investigation.
