At the Armed Forces Critical Care Centre in Burma Camp, Director‑General Ruth Dela Seddoh announced that graduates of the National Service Authority’s (NSA) Basic Military Training programme will receive priority consideration for recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) when vacancies arise.
She said the training, which covers military drills, physical fitness, weapon handling, first aid and emergency preparedness, is designed to instil discipline, resilience and other values that could give participants an edge in future military recruitment exercises.
However, Seddoh cautioned that completing the programme does not automatically qualify trainees for enlistment. “The training doesn’t automatically make them soldiers, but we have spoken to the leadership of the military, and they have agreed that whatever opportunities are there in the future, because they have already gone through the training and gotten resilience and discipline, they will be given the first, you know, opportunity to be employed,” she said.
She urged trainees to remain focused and committed throughout the rigorous training, noting that determination will be key to withstanding its demands.
