The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will employ every qualified teacher who is currently without a job if it returns to power.
Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, spokesperson for the NPP Education Policy Committee, told Eyewitness News on Wednesday, September 16, that teachers are central to Ghana’s education system and that the party would give them priority in hiring.
He added that the NPP would also improve teacher training, create more opportunities for career advancement, restore stability in the placement process and upgrade model schools to make Category B and C schools more attractive.
In addition, the party plans to expand academic interventions to sustain improved learning outcomes and provide teachers with more professional development and community learning opportunities.
What follows is a clear statement of intent from the NPP’s education arm, outlining a comprehensive strategy to address teacher unemployment and strengthen the profession if the party is re‑elected.
