Ghana and Jamaica have reaffirmed their historical and cultural bonds, pledging to significantly boost bilateral cooperation across key economic sectors including trade, investment, education, tourism, and agriculture.
The commitment was announced during a joint media briefing following high-level bilateral talks held as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s State Visit to the Caribbean nation.
Addressing journalists, President Mahama and Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness outlined an ambitious roadmap aimed at expanding commercial ties and driving sustainable growth for both countries.

The two leaders highlighted the necessity of moving beyond traditional historical connections to unlock tangible economic benefits for their citizens.

Beyond bilateral ties, President Mahama and Prime Minister Holness highlighted the broader strategic value of bridging the gap between Africa and the Caribbean.
They underscored the importance of advancing the Pan-African agenda, noting that closer collaboration between African Union (AU) member states and CARICOM (Caribbean Community) countries is crucial for tackling shared global challenges ranging from economic resilience to climate action.
