Amadou Mohammed Granted GH¢400k Bail in US$3.5 Million Fraud Allegation

Adenta Circuit Court in Accra has granted bail to Amadou Mohammed, 53, who is accused of defrauding a business partner of US$3.5 million under the pretext of arranging a shipment of an investment fund allegedly worth US$400 million to Nigeria in 2022.

Mohammed pleaded not guilty to a charge of defrauding by false pretences. Prosecutors said the complainant and Mohammed were business partners at the time of the alleged transaction and that Mohammed collected the money from the complainant under the false pretense of facilitating the shipment.

The court accepted an application from Mohammed’s counsel and released him on bail of GH¢400,000, with two sureties to be justified with landed property. The case is adjourned to November 24, 2026.
