Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament for Kumawu, presented a motorcycle, a laptop and cash for fuel to the Sekyere Kumawu District Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on Monday at his residence in Kumawu. The donation aims to enable CHRAJ officers to reach remote communities, investigate human rights complaints and enhance public education where limited transport has hampered the Commission’s work.
Mr Anim, who chairs Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, said the Commission plays a vital role in protecting vulnerable people but needs adequate resources to discharge its mandate effectively. He also announced plans to provide the district office with quarterly support for fuel and operational expenses.
The District Director of CHRAJ, who received the items on behalf of the Commission, described the support as timely, noting that the lack of transport had made it difficult for officers to investigate cases and conduct community outreach. He pledged to put the items to good use and appealed to other individuals and organisations to support the Commission.
