Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli secured Formula One’s youngest world championship on Sunday, becoming the first Italian champion since 1953. The 20‑year‑old finished third in the red‑flagged, restarted Mexico City Grand Prix, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took the win.

Antonelli’s victory came after a day of high‑altitude drama at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, where he celebrated his triumph over the team radio, visibly moved by the moment. His overall lead now stands at an unassailable 119 points.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who started from pole position, managed a close second place in a race marked by two safety cars, multiple crashes and a 33‑minute halt with 25 of the 71 laps remaining.

With this championship, Antonelli has etched his name into Formula One history, while the season’s final standings will see Max Verstappen as the race winner and Lewis Hamilton finishing just behind him.
