Alhassan Tampuli Sulemana, the Member of Parliament for Gushegu, handed a cash donation, a laptop and a motorbike to Madam Irene, a local teacher who had been without pay for 14 months. The teacher had publicly highlighted her struggle with unpaid salary and alleged unfair treatment by the Ghana Education Service.

During the handover, Tampuli said that professionals who serve in rural communities deserve support to perform their duties effectively. “As a Member of Parliament, I’m not only there for my constituents. I’m also there for professionals like yourself who come to serve in my constituency and I want to be there for them so that they can serve our beloved country and constituency very well,” he said.

The MP explained that his intervention was meant to ease the burden on the teacher while efforts continue to address the underlying salary issues. He added that teachers and other professionals play a critical role in the development of the constituency and should be encouraged to remain committed to their work despite the challenges they face.

Madam Irene thanked the MP for the timely support, describing it as a relief during a difficult period.
