Her Excellency Diarra Dimé‑Labille, France’s ambassador to Ghana, met the Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, at the Mendiata Hotel in Accra on Monday. The meeting came just before the squad’s departure to Mexico for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup, scheduled to run from 13 to 22 November.
During the encounter, the ambassador praised the players’ dedication and achievements, and reaffirmed France’s commitment to inclusion and the welfare of persons with disabilities. “We are committed to inclusion. We support anything that makes people with disabilities feel part of society. It is important that any problems you are facing ahead of your trip to Mexico are resolved,” she said. “The only thing you have to think about is how we are going to win this cup. I want to congratulate you all for what you do every day. I am very humbled by your work, and I think Ghana can be very proud of your efforts.”
She also urged Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, to approach the French Embassy whenever the team required assistance. “If you need anything, please ask,” she added.
The Black Challenge have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq for the tournament. Ghana aims to build on its continental successes and secure its first Amputee Football World Cup title.
