The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has announced a nationwide audit aimed at individuals occupying or dealing with its lands and properties without valid authority. In a public notice released on Thursday, September 24, 2026, SHC stated the exercise would target persons occupying its land without valid authority, encroaching on its properties, or whose leases or other interests have expired.
The company will also focus on those developing or occupying SHC property without the requisite approval, as well as those who have unlawfully assigned, sublet, transferred or otherwise dealt with SHC property.
All affected persons have 21 days from the date of the notice to regularise their occupation or interest where legally permissible, apply for renewal of expired leases where applicable, or give vacant possession of the affected property. They must present relevant lease, allocation, payment and other supporting documents for verification.
“Persons without a valid and subsisting interest in SHC property who fail to comply within the stipulated period may be subject to lawful recovery and other remedies available to SHC under applicable law,” the company warned.
SHC also cautioned the public against purchasing, leasing, developing or otherwise dealing with its land without first verifying the status of the property and the authority of the person purporting to transact with them. The exercise forms part of measures by the state‑owned housing company to audit its land and property holdings and address unauthorised occupation and transactions.
