The Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies were knocked out of the CAF Women’s Champions League group stage after a 2-0 defeat to defending champions AS FAR on Sunday.

The match, the final group fixture for the Accra‑based side, meant they could not reach the semifinals for the first time since 2023, despite needing only a point to advance.

Manager Charles Anokye Frimpong made a change to the starting lineup, selecting Asana Hamidu over Victoria Banful.

In the first half, Ampem Darkoa held their own defensively and kept a clean sheet until the 45th minute, when Rose Teye Baah saved a penalty to preserve a 0-0 scoreline.

After the break, a reckless challenge on Baah saw her sent off and AS FAR awarded a penalty, which Ghizlane Chebbak converted to give the Moroccans a 1-0 lead.

Ampem Darkoa pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Rebecca Assemani missed a chance to level the score.

In the dying minutes, AS FAR capitalised on a defensive error to double their advantage, ending the Ghanaian side’s campaign on head‑to‑head rules.

AS FAR will now join debutant Kawempe Muslim Ladies from Group B in the semifinals.
