At Mountain Back Two in Hamile, an unapproved route in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, an explosion claimed the lives of two civilians and an immigration officer and left nine of the 11 injured civilians treated and discharged from hospital. The remaining two civilians have been transferred to the Upper West Regional Hospital for further medical attention.

The blast also injured a second immigration officer who was airlifted to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for treatment. Chief Superintendent Mohammed Abdul Manan, Hamile Sector Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, confirmed the figures during a visit by Comptroller‑General of Immigration Samuel Basintale Amadu.

Amadu’s visit aimed to engage community stakeholders, assess the welfare of immigration personnel and boost morale after the incident. He met with the Upper West Regional Security Council in Wa, the Border Security Committee, traditional leaders and youth groups in Hamile, and officers at the sector command, and also visited the families of the deceased civilians and the explosion site.
