On Sunday, November 8, 2026, Member of Parliament for Nsawam‑Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh‑Dompreh presented a cheque for GH¢50,000 to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons to repair a grounded ambulance that has been out of service.

The donation follows a visit by the MP last month during which he supplied assorted items and met with prison authorities to learn about the facility’s challenges. He was informed that the ambulance, originally donated by Rev. Owusu Ansah, had developed a fault and required servicing.

“As part of my patriotic responsibility as a Member of Parliament, I have been here earlier and have been briefed on some of the challenges. A key one among them is the fact that the ambulance facility has been grounded. It is unacceptable. In the case of an emergency, it will be a problem,” Annoh‑Dompreh said during the cheque presentation.

He added that the absence of a functional ambulance could create serious difficulties in the event of a medical emergency, especially in a correctional setting where inmates rely on the institution for urgent care. The MP expressed hope that the donation would enable the prison authorities to address the mechanical problems and restore the vehicle’s operations.

Beyond the ambulance, Annoh‑Dompreh highlighted other infrastructure needs, noting that the prison lacks a dedicated health centre and that discussions are underway to design one. He also mentioned plans to refurbish officers’ residential facilities, though such work requires security approvals and coordination with the Minister for the Interior and the Ghana Prisons Service.

Deputy Director of Prisons Patrick Thomas Seidu, Eastern Regional Commander and Officer in Charge of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, received the cheque and thanked the MP for honouring his commitment after the earlier engagement.

The Nsawam Medium Security Prisons remains a key correctional institution in the Eastern Region, making access to emergency medical services and adequate infrastructure essential to the welfare of inmates and personnel.
