Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga, addressed the ECOWAS Ministerial Consultation on Youth, Peace and Security in Accra on Tuesday, October 27. He urged that commitments to youth participation be matched with sustainable funding, stronger institutional coordination and effective monitoring.
Ayariga stressed that young people require adequate support to engage meaningfully in conflict prevention, peacebuilding and stability promotion across Ghana and the West African sub‑region. He highlighted the need for collaboration among government institutions, youth organisations and other stakeholders to ensure interventions are coordinated and responsive to the needs of young people and their communities.
According to him, credible monitoring and accountability mechanisms are essential to track progress, assess the impact of youth peace initiatives and guarantee that resources are used effectively. Sustained investment, he said, would strengthen peacebuilding efforts and support long‑term stability throughout the region.
