Daniel Asante, a 25‑year‑old mason from Lapaz, was handed a GH¢1 million cheque at a Telecel Ghana ceremony, marking the second time the company has awarded its monthly grand prize in the M’ahitti Promo.
Standing with his mother and brother, Asante admitted that he had initially doubted the call from Telecel, fearing a scam or kidnapping. He said, “I had a lot of doubt about it when they kept calling me. I was afraid it was a scam or that I was going to be kidnapped.”
After verification confirmed his win, the young mason reflected on the messages that had prompted him to opt in: “I had been receiving messages from Telecel M’ahitti and one day I decided to opt in. I never thought this would happen to me,” he said.
As a newly minted millionaire, Asante plans to start a business and invest the remainder of the prize. “I feel very excited about this because I know it’s going to help me and my family a lot. I will start a business for myself and invest the rest,” he added.
Telecel Ghana’s Director of the Consumer Business Unit, Aneth Muga, praised the promotion’s impact, noting that “we are seeing firsthand how it is changing lives and creating opportunities for everyday Ghanaians.”
The M’ahitti Promo, regulated by the National Lottery Authority under the Caritas Lottery platform, has already rewarded over 8,000 winners with prizes worth more than GH¢3.6 million nationwide. Marketing Officer Bright Ofori of the NLA confirmed the draw’s fairness and legitimacy.
With two millionaires crowned, one GH¢1 million grand prize remains available, along with daily and weekly cash rewards. Customers can join by dialing *500# or using the Telecel Play app.
