StoryFest Ghana: 3‑Day Literacy and Creative Arts Festival Opens in Accra

Ghana’s inaugural national literacy and creative arts festival, StoryFest Ghana, will unfold in Accra from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December 2026. The event, organised by AMPLE House and endorsed by the Ghana Tourism Authority as part of the December in GH 2026 programme, is slated to attract more than 3,000 attendees, including an estimated 1,000 visitors from the diaspora and abroad and 1,500 students from more than 20 schools.

Hosted at the Accra City Hotel, the three‑day programme will weave literary activities, creative exhibitions, food, youth‑focused workshops and live performances into a single tapestry. Organisers say the aim is to create a platform for Ghanaian stories and the people who tell them.

A highlight will be Believe the Musical, a Christmas pantomime produced by AMPLE Productions and directed by Vivian Boateng of Vivies Dance and Theatre Academy. Written by entrepreneur and media mogul Jason Nana Yaw Mohan, the show will run on all three evenings and is billed as Ghana’s first Christmas pantomime, inviting audience participation at the finale.

Daytime visitors will explore six themed zones: the Ghana Story and Book Village, the Made‑in‑Ghana Creative Market with 65 local artists and craftspeople, the Taste of Ghana Food Court, the Youth Story Zone, the Creative Futures and Digital Storytelling Lab, and the Heritage and Tourism Discovery Hub.

A key feature is the Pitch Your Story competition, partnered with the Academic Talent Development Program. One winner will secure a publishing contract with AMPLE Publications USA and receive professional mentorship, in a prize package valued at US$5,000. Entrants submit a short video and shortlisted candidates pitch live at the festival; the public vote on national television will decide the winner.

StoryFest Ghana seeks to unite audiences of all ages while offering writers, performers, artists and other creatives a stage to showcase their work. The festival will also contribute to Ghana’s December tourism surge, drawing visitors from the diaspora and beyond.
