The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially rejected circulating reports that a student has recently died at Ghana National College. The Service clarified that the incident in question actually happened in 2018 and that no student has passed away at the school in recent times.
In a Facebook post, GES warned the public to disregard the misleading reports and described the spread of the story as an attempt to reopen painful wounds for the bereaved family and to tarnish the school’s reputation. “No student has passed away at Ghana National College. This particular reported demise occurred in 2018,” the post read.

The clarification follows claims that a first‑year student, Ruby Teiko, had died after severe breathing difficulties during a dormitory inspection at Elsie Dadzie Hall. Her family alleged she was made to wait for the exercise to end before receiving assistance. GES urged the public not to share the false information and to avoid causing distress to the affected family.
Moving forward, GES has called on the community to respect the school’s integrity and to refrain from spreading unverified rumors.
