A fire erupted in a 23‑room compound house in Anlo Town, close to the Old Slaughter House in the New Juaben North Municipality, on Friday, November 6.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) posted on Facebook that a 10‑member crew from the New Juaben North Municipal Fire Station responded to the incident and managed to bring the blaze under control before fully extinguishing it, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring properties.

Despite the firefighters’ efforts, the fire destroyed 11 rooms, several personal belongings, two electric motorbikes and a bicycle. Access to the building has been restricted because of concerns over its structural integrity.

Senior officers from the Fire and Police Services visited the scene, and preliminary investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
