The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Abdulai Ayariga, says Ghana’s selection to host major international youth platforms during the 2026 National Youth Month demonstrates the country’s rising influence in youth development, civic engagement, and continental cooperation.
Speaking at the official launch of the celebration, Mr. Ayariga emphasized that these high-level international engagements will give young Ghanaians a direct channel to interact with policymakers, innovators, and peer leaders from across Africa, Japan, and international partner nations.
Key International Events Announced
During his address, the NYA boss unveiled two major continental initiatives slated to take place in Ghana as part of the month-long celebration:
TICAD Youth Drive: Operating under the theme “Youth Agenda 2055: From Vision to Action,” this initiative will explore long-term strategies for youth-led economic and social development.
Pan-African Youth Parliament for Democracy: Ghana will host the inaugural in-person edition of this gathering, aimed at deepening democratic participation, civic dialogue, and leadership among African youth.
Expanding Horizons for the Digital Age
Mr. Ayariga noted that these international platforms, alongside a robust calendar of national activities, are designed to expose Ghanaian youth to regional and global development pipelines.
"These international engagements further affirm Ghana’s leadership role in youth development and democratic engagement in Africa," Mr. Ayariga stated. "They will broaden the horizon of our young people, deepen their exposure, and connect their energy and ideas to regional and global opportunities."
He expressed optimism that the exposure gained throughout the 2026 National Youth Month will cultivate a new generation of patriotic, innovative, and civic-minded leaders capable of steering Ghana’s socio-economic transformation in an increasingly digital world.
