Isaac Aboagye Duah, who has led the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) since 2017, was elected unopposed as President of the West Africa Zone and Vice President of Tennis Africa at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in Luanda, Angola, on 7 November 2026. The election filled the vacancy left by the late former Zone President, Ing. Ifedayo Akindoju Dayo, who passed away last year.

Under the Tennis Africa Constitution, the position was to be filled at the next AGM, and Duah’s unanimous victory was seen as a boost for Ghana’s influence in continental tennis governance. The West Africa Zone comprises 15 member countries, and Duah’s new role will allow Ghana to play a larger part in shaping policy and development across the sub‑region.

During his tenure as GTF president, Duah has championed inclusive governance, securing recognition for players, coaches, officials and clubs as delegates at the highest decision‑making body in Ghana. He has also promoted an open‑door policy that encourages tennis clubs and foundations to partner with the Federation and host internationally recognised World Tennis competitions.

Ghana has competed in West African junior tournaments for nine years, achieved success in African 12‑and‑under competitions, and continues to represent the country in the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup. Duah also serves on the African Cup of Nations Sub‑Committee of Tennis Africa, contributing to continental development.

Commenting on his election, Duah said, “I am deeply honoured by the confidence placed in me and humbled by the opportunity to serve tennis across West Africa and the African continent. My leadership philosophy has always been anchored in inclusion, collaboration and the belief that tennis can only grow when players, coaches, officials, clubs and foundations are recognised, valued and given a meaningful voice.”

He added, “I look forward to bringing this spirit of inclusive leadership to Tennis Africa. Working with our 15 West African member countries and stakeholders across the continent, we can strengthen our institutions, develop our players and officials, attract greater investment and create sustainable opportunities for the next generation. My vision is for an African tennis community that is united in purpose, strong in governance and increasingly competitive on the world stage.”

Duah holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an Executive MBA, an M.A. in Leadership and Management, and a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification. He was educated at Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua.

His election marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian sports administration and offers an opportunity to strengthen the country’s contribution to tennis development across West Africa and the continent. The Ghana Tennis Federation congratulates Duah on his new role and looks forward to his continued service at both national and continental levels.
