Addo Urges Ministry to Scout UDS Footballers for Black Stars

In a recent session of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Asutifi North MP Ebenezer Kwaku Addo urged the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to scout the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for potential Black Stars talent.

He praised the UDS squad for defending its continental university title, defeating Julius Nyerere University 2‑1 in the final of the 12th All Africa University Games held in Cairo. The team has also won the 2024 FISU World Tournament in China, where they beat Brazil.

Speaking to the committee, Addo said, "I have followed them since 2024 and just yesterday they won the 12th All Africa University Games in Cairo. Last year in September, they won FISU World Tournament in China, beating Brazil. I think we should encourage them and if there are players there, they should also scout them and recommend them for national assignment."

The MP’s appeal comes amid growing interest in tapping university talent to strengthen Ghana’s national squad. The Ministry has yet to respond to the request.
