JUSAG Strike Halts Operations at Ghana’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeal

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has launched a strike that has brought several court premises to a standstill across the country. The Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Accra Circuit Court and selected District Court offices have been locked, with security personnel preventing access to the premises.

Security officers have been instructed not to open the gates, and at some court entrances red cloth has been tied to signal the association’s concerns and draw attention to the industrial action.

JUSAG is striking to demand payment of outstanding revised salary arrears that date back to January 2026. Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed has appealed to the association to call off the strike, noting that management has engaged in high‑level, good‑faith negotiations with relevant government stakeholders to resolve the outstanding issues.

With court operations halted, litigants and legal professionals are awaiting a resolution to the dispute. The strike remains in effect as JUSAG continues to press for the arrears to be paid.
