On Monday, November 2, 2026, SyND’s Executive Coordinator Chibeze Ezekiel presented a proposal to the government, urging the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and the Ministry of Finance to operationalise Ghana’s Renewable Energy Fund through the 2027 Budget. The fund, which already exists, remains largely unutilised and could provide critical financing for youth‑led businesses seeking to participate in the country’s energy transition.
Ezekiel outlined a financing window that would combine pre‑investment grants, partial credit guarantees and working capital support for businesses aiming to secure renewable energy supply contracts. He added that the window should work with the Ghana Enterprises Agency and MASLOC to reach firms that are not yet investment‑ready.
SyND also proposes a dedicated youth clean‑cooking programme under Ghana’s target of distributing 4.5 million improved cookstoves. The group wants the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, the Energy Commission and the Ghana Standards Authority to support young entrepreneurs to manufacture, distribute and service improved cookstoves, while also backing testing and certification of locally developed designs and linking businesses to carbon finance.
“Build on the last plan’s biggest success with a dedicated programme that trains young entrepreneurs to produce, distribute and service improved cookstoves, supports testing and certification of their stove designs, and links them to carbon finance,” Ezekiel said.
SyND argues that combining enterprise financing with technical support and market access could help young businesses contribute more meaningfully to Ghana’s renewable energy and clean‑cooking ambitions, ensuring the Renewable Energy Master Plan delivers both energy transition targets and jobs for young people.
