Rashid Tanko‑Computer, the National Democratic Congress’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, urged the New Patriotic Party to share any credible intelligence on alleged drug‑processing laboratories in Ghana. He spoke on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, after the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, publicly accused drug traffickers of operating labs that process narcotics for export.
Mr Tanko‑Computer said the allegations, which he described as “intelligence,” should be presented to the National Security Secretariat and other allied security agencies. He added that the press conference where Mr Boakye made the claims was “listened to” by security bodies, implying the information had weight.
He called on Mr Boakye and the NPP to hand over any clear information they possess, stating, “If you have clear information about these dealings, we are open to information as a government. Come and give us more information.” Mr Tanko‑Computer also warned citizens against concealing information that could threaten national security, citing the 1992 Constitution’s mandate to avoid political expediency at the expense of peace and tranquility.
The NDC’s call comes amid growing concerns over drug trafficking routes that allegedly use Ghana as a transit point. Authorities have yet to confirm the existence of the laboratories, but the NDC’s stance signals a willingness to investigate the claims further.
