Havilland Hall, a sprawling Regency villa on Guernsey’s 80 acres, has been put on the market for £65 million. The property boasts six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, five reception rooms, an indoor pool and is touted as the island’s largest private estate.

Built by Lieutenant‑Colonel Thomas Fiott de Havilland between 1829 and 1830, the house later served as the official residence of the island’s lieutenant‑governors. It was owned in 1922 by Count Lothair Blücher von Wahlstatt, whose lineage traces back to the Prussian commander who aided the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo.

The estate’s rich provenance includes ownership by William Keiller, the marmalade entrepreneur who founded Dundee’s first commercial marmalade brand. The Keiller family’s descendants also include Oscar‑winning actresses Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine.

Savills, the estate agents handling the sale, described Havilland Hall as a “pre‑eminent Channel Island estate.” Phillippa Dalby‑Welsh, head of Savills’ country department, added that the property’s “distinguished Regency villa, beautiful gardens, ancillary accommodation and leisure facilities” make it a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity.

Nick Paluch, head of Savills’ Guernsey open market residential business, echoed this sentiment, calling the home a superb property that “is likely to draw a global audience.”

The estate includes five guest cottages, staff accommodation, office space, converted farm buildings, a wine cellar and a games room, offering both residential and business potential.

Potential buyers will find a unique blend of historical significance and modern luxury, with the estate’s extensive land and facilities positioning it as a rare find in the Channel Islands market.
