On Friday, September 4, the National Theatre in Accra welcomed a full house for Roverman Productions’ 18th‑anniversary celebration. The company staged its 66th production, Honey Trap, a play written and directed by veteran playwright James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as Uncle Ebo Whyte.
Honey Trap follows James, a wealthy businessman who believes he has found love again, only to be warned by his ex‑wife Gail that the woman he is falling for may not be who she appears to be. The story unfolds with a mix of romance, humour, suspicion and suspense, drawing laughter, gasps and enthusiastic reactions from the audience.
The packed auditorium became almost a character in the play, with patrons openly expressing amusement and surprise at the twists and turns. Uncle Ebo Whyte thanked the audience for keeping the Roverman dream alive, saying, “I am very honoured by everyone who came. 18 years is a long journey, and we are grateful for the love.” He added that the full house and lively response made the anniversary celebration even more memorable.
Honey Trap will run at the National Theatre on September 11, 12 and 13, offering theatre lovers a chance to see the drama that celebrates Roverman’s remarkable 18‑year journey and its status as a household name in Ghanaian theatre.
