Eric Bauza, the Canadian voice artist known for his work on Looney Tunes classics such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, died at the age of 46. A family statement posted on Instagram said his death was sudden.
Bauza had lent his voice to several characters in the summer’s animated hit Coyote vs. Acme and appeared in the recent film Forgotten Island. Variety reported that the cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease and that he died at home on Sunday.
Born in Ontario and of Filipino descent, Bauza grew up a fan of Looney Tunes and often mimicked the characters’ voices as a child. In a 2021 NBC News interview he said, “Looney Tunes transcends all languages and all cultures. It doesn’t matter what part of the planet you’re from. You get the comedy.”
He voiced Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd and Foghorn Leghorn in 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy, and later reprised those roles plus Road Runner in Coyote vs. Acme. He also voiced Toad General in 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the fifth highest‑grossing film worldwide that year. Between 2022 and 2025 he won three Emmy Awards for outstanding voice performance in various TV series.
Channing Dungey, chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, said in a statement: “Eric Bauza was a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world. He followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc. Eric said that carrying on the legendary legacy of the Looney Tunes was among the greatest honors of his life.”
Fans and colleagues mourn the loss of a voice that defined generations of comedy. The entertainment community continues to celebrate Bauza’s legacy through his memorable characters and award‑winning performances.
