Mohammed Abubakari, popularly known as Abu, has been elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amasaman Constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Abubakari secured 1,315 votes, defeating Kwami Julius Tsatsu, who polled 794, and William Afrako, who received 190 votes.

His election makes him the youngest chairman to steer the affairs of the NDC in the Amasaman Constituency.

Speaking after his victory, Abubakari said his priority would be to unite party members and work towards retaining the constituency seat for the NDC in the 2028 general elections.

"My aim is to bring everyone together in unity and ensure that the next general elections ahead of us are won by the NDC in the constituency," he said.

Abubakari previously served as an Assembly Member for the Onyansa Electoral Area before rising to become the NDC Constituency Chairman for Amasaman.

His election comes as the party prepares to strengthen its structures and mobilise supporters ahead of the 2028 general elections.
