Nana Yaw Bonsu Kwarteng, a 35‑year‑old entrepreneur who posed as an online pastor, and his wife Sally Akosua Amoasah, a chartered accountant, were discharged by Circuit Court One in Accra after the two fraud cases against them were withdrawn for consolidation and referral to the High Court.
The cases, pending before Circuit Courts One and Ten, involved six counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false pretences. Kwarteng faced additional charges of defrauding by false pretences, resisting arrest and possession of obscene material, while Sally faced an extra charge of producing and possessing obscene material.
According to the prosecution, the couple targeted seven complainants—including an ambassador and businesswomen—through Instagram, promising marriage and business opportunities, then demanding money for supposed tyre business expenses. Kwarteng allegedly collected $33,000, GH¢25,000, $4,000, GH¢22,000 and other foreign currencies, never repaying the victims and threatening them with blackmail videos.
Investigations revealed that the couple had hidden from police, deactivated their Instagram pages, and used a sole‑proprietorship registered in Sally’s name to give a façade of legitimacy. The couple was arrested on July 20, 2026, after an intelligence operation found them in a hideout following a failed escape attempt.
With the cases now consolidated, the matter is being referred to the High Court for further proceedings. The prosecution continues to investigate additional alleged fraud cases involving the couple, with petitions from other women still pending.
