The 30‑year‑old Bismark Amoh was abducted on Sunday, 6 September 2026, and has spent more than 48 hours in captivity in the Fosu Municipality of the Central Region. His family has been racing against time to secure his release after the kidnappers threatened to kill him unless a ransom was paid.
According to the Ghana News Agency, the kidnappers initially demanded GH¢45,000 and gave the family a 24‑hour ultimatum. A chilling audio and video recording sent via WhatsApp showed Amoh stripped, tied with ropes, forced to lie in water and beaten with ropes, while pleading for his life.
The recordings also revealed the kidnappers using Amoh’s own mobile phone to communicate, a tactic that may conceal their identities and hinder investigations. The family managed to gather GH¢19,500 from friends and relatives and sent it to the captors, hoping for his immediate release.
However, one of the kidnappers demanded an additional GH¢30,500, raising the total ransom to GH¢50,000. In the background of the footage, a woman’s voice accused Amoh of allegedly defrauding the people involved in his detention, adding further tension to the situation.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the kidnappers, and the family remains in distress as they await any sign of Amoh’s safety. The case has drawn national attention to the growing issue of kidnapping and ransom demands in the region.
