Erling Haaland’s goal secured a 1‑0 win for Manchester City over Manchester United in a highly controversial derby, with the Citizens playing with ten men for most of the match.
City midfielder Phil Foden received a straight red card after kicking at Bruno Fernandes, leaving the Red Devils with a man‑down advantage that saw them dominate the first half and hit the post on either side of the break.
The only goal came in the 60th minute when Haaland tapped in a low, deflected cross from Josko Gvardiol at the back post. A VAR review initially flagged Haaland for offside, but the check ruled him on, while Enzo Fernandez’s offside was deemed not to affect play.
The result kept City’s perfect start to the Premier League season under new manager Enzo Maresca and tied them with Arsenal on points at the top of the table. United dropped points for the third time in four league matches, remaining 13th.
