Frank Gavor has been elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency after securing 647 votes in the party’s constituency executive elections.
Gavor defeated three other contenders, including David Avornyotse, who polled 574 votes, Ekwaw Acquah, who obtained 503 votes, and Kenneth Nat Yezu, who received 108 votes.
Amos Ameyaw Gokah was elected Constituency Secretary after polling 811 votes to beat three other candidates. Williams Agbodo placed second with 524 votes, followed by James Boso, who received 326 votes, and Viglo Papa, who polled 165 votes.
The election also saw the selection of eight executive members to serve alongside the new chairman, though their names were not disclosed in the initial announcement.
Gavor’s victory comes as the NDC prepares for the upcoming general elections, with the party looking to strengthen its grassroots presence in key constituencies.
Observers note that the close vote margins reflect a competitive internal democracy within the party, potentially signaling a shift in local political dynamics.
Going forward, Gavor is expected to focus on consolidating party support, mobilising volunteers, and coordinating campaign strategies ahead of the national polls.
