The 2026 National Bible Quiz (NBQ) saw a remarkable display of academic prowess from alumni of the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC Legon). Six of the nine finalists were former PRESEC students, underscoring the school’s enduring influence beyond secondary education.
At the grand finale held at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), AGCM‑KNUST emerged victorious. The winning squad comprised three PRESEC alumni: Benjamin W. Jackson (2023), Ephraim Odikro (2024) and Richmond Owuraku Akyeah (2023). Jackson, known as “Ben 10,” delivered a standout performance, marking his third consecutive appearance in an NBQ final.
The first runners‑up, GHAMSU‑KNUST, also featured PRESEC graduates, with Nana Kwesi Asante Essel and Jeffery Fiifi Gaisie (2023) among the principal contestants. New Breed‑KNUST, which finished third, included Wesley Paa Kojo Oduro (2023) as one of its participants.
With all three top‑placed teams represented by former PRESEC students, the event highlighted the school’s legacy in fostering academic excellence, leadership and Christian formation. The NBQ, Ghana’s premier inter‑church Bible competition, continues to encourage diligent study of Scripture and unity among believers across diverse traditions.
PRESEC Legon’s success at the 2026 NBQ is one of the most notable achievements by a single second‑cycle institution in the competition’s history, further cementing its reputation in Ghanaian academic and intellectual arenas.
