The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) has released its latest pricing outlook for the first window of the 2026 fuel price cycle, set to commence on 1 November. COPEC projects a 1.71% decline in the retail price of petrol, while diesel is expected to rise 4.07% at the pump.
According to the statement, the Free On Board price of petrol fell from $1,255.05 to $1,199.16 per metric tonne, a 4.45% drop. With a 0.6% cedi appreciation, the projected retail price of petrol is Ghc16.72 per litre, down from the current mean of Ghc17.02. COPEC estimates the petrol price will trade between Ghc15.89 and Ghc17.57 per litre, within a ±5% range of its projection.
On diesel, the Free On Board price increased from $1,414.78 to $1,453.07 per metric tonne, a 2.71% rise. The 0.6% currency appreciation is expected to lift the retail diesel price to Ghc19.15 per litre, up from the current mean of Ghc18.40. COPEC projects diesel to sell between Ghc18.19 and Ghc20.11 per litre, again within a ±5% range.
Consumers can expect these changes to take effect from the 1 November pricing window, with fuel stations adjusting their rates accordingly. The COPEC forecast highlights the impact of international oil price movements and currency fluctuations on Ghana’s fuel market.
