The Tema Regional Police Command arrested 49‑year‑old Issaka Mohammed on Saturday, September 12, 2026, after motorbike patrol officers received intelligence that he was operating a suspected Indian hemp deal behind the New Tulaku Cow Market in Ashaiman.
Police arrived at the location around 11:30 p.m. and seized Mohammed with a sack in his possession. A search of the sack revealed thirty‑seven slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.
The evidence was counted in the suspect’s presence and retained for evidential purposes. Mohammed is reportedly assisting the police with the investigation and will be brought before court “as soon as practicable.”
Police urged the public to keep sending credible information on persons involved in the possession, sale and distribution of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs, saying such tips would aid efforts to curb drug‑related offences.
