Afreximbank and APOP Launch $5 Billion Africa Energy Bank

The African Export‑Import Bank and the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation have formally launched the Africa Energy Bank, a move announced by Afreximbank on Saturday. The institution carries an authorised capital of $5 billion and is positioned to address a growing financing gap as traditional lenders reduce their exposure to fossil‑fuel projects. Despite this shift, oil and gas continue to play a central role in the continent’s energy infrastructure.
