Motorists traveling on the Accra-Kumasi (N6) highway face heavy delays today following a three-vehicle collision that completely blocked the road at the Birimso section.

According to police reports released on Monday, August 3, 2026, the crash involved a high-occupancy passenger bus, a fully loaded articulated truck, and a sedan car. The force of the impact brought traffic to a complete standstill, creating a massive pile-up in both directions.
Officers from the Eastern South Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Kibi are currently on site managing the scene and directing traffic.
To clear the gridlock and prevent further congestion, police have instituted temporary diversions:
Accra-bound traffic is being redirected through Kibi at Nsutam.
Kumasi-bound traffic is being rerouted through Apedwa.
Drivers navigating the corridor are advised to exercise patience, expect delays, and strictly observe traffic directions from safety officials on the ground as recovery operations continue.
