Brandon Thomas‑Asante, the Coventry City forward, has been handed a late call‑up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international break following a weekend injury. The forward is expected to join the national team for matches against Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia and Morocco.
Thomas‑Asante was drafted in as one of two replacements after Mohammed Kudus withdrew and Prince Adu Kwabena sustained a head injury. The striker was part of the Black Stars squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the USA, where Ghana exited in the Round of 32.
During the World Cup, Thomas‑Asante assisted Caleb Yirenkyi’s lone goal in the win over Panama in Ghana’s opening match. He was initially omitted from the 24‑man squad named by coach Carlos Queiroz for the upcoming assignments but received a late invitation to join the team.
The Black Stars will open their international break campaign with a qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, followed by a home game against Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium five days later. The window will finish with a friendly against Morocco on October 4.
