On Thursday, September 17, 2026, Dr Benjamin Dzoboku, Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, spoke on Joy FM’s Personality Profile programme with Lexis Bill. He urged Ghanaian youth to make deliberate use of their 24 hours, warning that social media can consume time that could be invested in building a future.
Dzoboku reminded listeners that every person, regardless of background, has the same 24 hours each day. “The way you utilize those hours will determine how far you will go,” he said. He highlighted the growing influence of social media as a major challenge, noting that many young people devote substantial time to activities that do not add value to their development.
He called for consistency and focus, urging the youth to concentrate on activities that develop their abilities, strengthen knowledge and move them closer to aspirations. “If the 24 hours is for everybody and they are using this to do different things that will not add value to themselves, then they must automatically know that they will fail,” Dzoboku warned.

Beyond reducing screen time, the MD’s message is a call for deliberate attention to how time, talent and opportunity are deployed. He linked his advice to responsibility and accountability, stressing that talent alone is insufficient without consistent effort.
Dzoboku’s own career, from early working life to senior banking leadership, exemplifies his point that how talent is developed and deployed is as important as the talent itself. He urged young people to guard their attention, remain focused on goals and resist distractions that could hinder meaningful progress.
As the banking sector continues to evolve, Dzoboku’s advice serves as a reminder that the challenge is not having more time than others, but making better use of the time available.
