Renowned Highlife singer and songwriter Pat Thomas will celebrate his 80th birthday on September 26, 2026, by headlining a marathon Highlife session at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra. The event will feature a lineup of acclaimed Highlife acts, all set to honor the veteran musician.
Among the performers slated to join Thomas are Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Pozo Hayes, Kwabena Kwabena, Amandzeba, Obrafour, Wutah Afriyie, Akosua Agyepong, Ben Brako, Bessa Simons and KK Fosu. The Bessa Band will provide the backing for the night’s performances.
Wutah Afriyie expressed his excitement, saying, “I feel truly humbled to be part of those to perform at the celebration of Uncle Pat Thomas. His songs raised me before I even knew I would do music. Let’s come together to honour our living legend.”
Thomas, who has long been a fixture in Ghanaian music, has contributed to groups such as Uhuru Band, Sweet Beans, Marijata and Kwashibu Area Band. His enduring voice continues to resonate with audiences both locally and abroad, and his catalog includes classics like “Momma Meka Bi,” “Antokyire,” “Yesu San Bra,” “Gyae Su,” “Mensei Da,” “Medo Wiase” and “Sika Ye Mogya.”
