Efya, the Ghanaian vocalist known for her powerful vocals, and Nigerian singer Tomi Thomas celebrated their union in a traditional ceremony this weekend, following a February 14 knocking ceremony that marked the first formal step toward marriage. The couple, who have kept their relationship largely private, revealed the news through a series of Instagram posts, with Efya sharing a photo of the pair on November 5, 2026, and captioning it, “Some things are written in the stars. Others find their way underneath your skin.”
Thomas, born on November 9, 1992, in Lagos, Nigeria, grew up in Kano and Atlanta, Georgia, before studying at Middlesex University in Dubai. He first gained prominence as a member of the Lagos‑based music collective Loud On Sound (LOS) before launching a solo career in 2014 with the EP Patience, featuring the single “Ready or Not.” His work spans Afro‑pop, R&B, hip‑hop, soul, reggae and dancehall, and he has collaborated with artists such as Buju Banton, Wale, Sarkodie and the Black Eyed Peas.
Efya, whose full name is Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, has been a staple in Ghana’s music scene for years. While the couple’s meeting and romance details remain scarce, their families reportedly conducted a traditional knocking ceremony in February, a customary Ghanaian pre‑marriage rite. Efya’s management clarified that the event was not a completed wedding, as the customary family processes were still ongoing.
The couple’s wedding is set to continue with a white ceremony tomorrow, drawing attention not only to Efya’s milestone but also to Thomas, who has largely remained outside the Ghanaian celebrity spotlight. Fans and industry insiders alike are eager to see how the duo will blend their musical talents and cultural backgrounds in their shared future.
