In a move to counter the long hours spent behind screens, Ninani Group’s staff from its six marketing communications agencies—Results Advertising, Innova DDB, Interactive Digital, Touchpoint Magna Carta, Brand Alert and P2P—gathered for a day of health walk, football, racing, table tennis and other games.
Chief Operating Officer of Results Advertising, Justin Antwi‑Darkwa, said the event was designed to give employees a break from work demands and to promote physical health. “The whole purpose of this is for us to just unwind, bond, put down our tools and get together as a group of businesses to have fun,” he told participants. He added that maintaining fitness was crucial for staff who often work long hours at desks.
Preparation for the programme began months earlier, with employees engaging in physical training, hydration and healthy eating. “They’ve been taking it quite seriously,” Mr Antwi‑Darkwa noted. Group HR manager Akosua Aworae Apau highlighted the importance of deliberate breaks for marketing professionals, who “sell brain power by the hour” and spend most of their time in the office.
The day opened with a health walk up the Ibri Mountains, after which teams competed in football matches and other activities. The wellness programme, now in its fifth or sixth year, aims to expand in future editions, possibly inviting corporate clients to join.
Support came from Myst Water and Beta Malt, providing drinks during the walk and games. Ninani Group encourages other organisations, especially those with desk‑bound roles, to adopt similar initiatives to promote employee health and teamwork.
