Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said he was approached by a woman who tried to take him to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after a court proceeding on Wednesday. Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, the MP described the woman’s firm grip on his wrist and her insistence that he not drive her to the office.
According to Mr Awuah, the woman held his wrist so tightly that he had to wriggle free. He offered to drive her to EOCO, but she refused, saying she would rather arrest him “like a common criminal” and take him in their car. When he asked for identification to confirm her affiliation, she could not produce any.
Mr Awuah said the incident made him suspect a possible abduction and that he was prepared to go to EOCO if the proper process was followed. He rejected claims that he had fled to Parliament to evade a lawful arrest, calling the encounter an unlawful arrest and an attempt to abduct him by persons who do not want to work with the law.
He added that seeking sanctuary against kidnappers is not wrong, and that he would not sit in a car if he feared being taken illegally.
