On Saturday, September 5, residents of Klefe near Ho marked the beginning of the annual yam festival with a vibrant carnival procession that started from Galenkui Hill and wound through the town’s divisions, ending in the evening with dancing, drumming and festive displays.
The event, part of the festival’s theme “Harnessing Skills Development of the Youth through Technical Education – The Role of our communities within Government’s Reset Agenda,” aims to raise funds for development projects at the Klefe Technical Institute.
Committee chairman Delali Kasu said the target was GH 500,000, with expectations of a large turnout from Klefe citizens and dignitaries, including former President John Dramani Mahama, Volta Regional Minister James Gunu and Supreme Court Judge Justice Senyo Dzamefe.
The climax of the celebration will be a grand durbar at Klefe‑Achatime on Saturday, September 26, where the community will continue to honour the new yam and support local youth education initiatives.
