Sista Afia Shares Fears About Becoming a Single Mother

Ghanaian musician Sista Afia, known offstage as Francisca Duncan Williams Gawugah, opened up on social media about her concerns regarding motherhood. She said she is not afraid of becoming a parent, but fears becoming a single mother or a “baby mama” without the love, commitment and family structure she envisions.

In a post, the artist wrote, “Seeing how many single mothers there are in this generation honestly scares me.” She added that she wants to build a home with a partner rather than just have a child.

The comments come after Sista Afia’s public admission in September 2025 that she had not been in a committed relationship for about eight years because the man she loves does not reciprocate her feelings. She explained that she has remained single because the relationship never developed into the partnership she desired.

Her latest remarks highlight what she hopes for in a future relationship: not just romance or parenthood, but a committed family unit. Fans of her hits such as “Jeje,” “Kro Kro No,” and “Slay Queen” will no doubt follow her journey closely.
