The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that former Ghana international Godwin Attram has joined the Black Stars technical team as assistant coach, taking over the role from Desmond Ofei. Attram will work closely with the senior squad as the team gears up for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and other international fixtures.
Desmond Ofei, who has balanced duties as head coach of the Black Meteors (Ghana’s U23 national team) with his assistant role at the senior side, will now devote his full attention to the U23 side as they prepare for the next Olympic Games qualifiers.
Attram, a former Black Stars midfielder, brings a wealth of experience from his playing days with clubs such as PSV Eindhoven and Silkeborg IF, as well as his coaching stints. He previously served as head coach of Great Olympics and has been involved in various national youth team structures, earning a reputation for his modern approach to player development.
The appointment is part of the GFA’s technical restructuring aimed at strengthening the national team’s coaching framework ahead of upcoming competitions. Both Attram and Ofei have expressed confidence that their respective focuses will benefit Ghanaian football at all levels.
As the Black Stars prepare for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, the GFA’s decision to streamline coaching responsibilities is seen as a strategic move to enhance performance and talent cultivation across the national teams.
