Ghana Targets June 2027 for GDP and CPI Re‑basement

Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Nyarko Ampem announced that Ghana aims to complete the rebasing of its Gross Domestic Product and Consumer Price Index by the end of June 2027. The move is intended to enhance the precision and relevance of the nation’s economic statistics.

Speaking at the launch of the maiden edition of Ghana in Numbers 2025 in Accra, Ampem stressed that reliable, up‑to‑date data are essential for economic planning, budget allocations and investment decisions. He urged the Ghana Statistical Service to finish the exercises and related activities within the proposed timeline.

The Ministry of Finance will support the Ghana Statistical Service in securing more predictable domestic funding for its core programmes. This initiative is expected to give Ghana greater control over financing essential statistical activities and improve coordination and data standards across public institutions.

Ampem also pledged the Ministry’s backing for the proposed Statistics Bill, promising urgent attention once submitted and a concerted effort to facilitate its passage in Parliament.
