Fertilizer solutions provider Yara Ghana Limited has rewarded six agricultural input retailers through its digital YaraConnect Loyalty Program. The award ceremony, held in Tamale, celebrated the retailers for their commitment to promoting quality plant nutrition products and offering vital technical advice to local farming communities.

As part of the recognition, the company presented three motorized tricycles and three motorcycles to the top-performing retailers.

Retailers as Strategic First Contacts for Farmers

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Country Manager of Yara Ghana, Madam Theresa Randolph, highlighted that agricultural input retailers occupy a pivotal position in Ghana's agricultural value chain as the primary point of contact for smallholder farmers seeking advice prior to purchasing inputs.

"Farmers have many questions regarding fertilizer selection, application methods, and timing. Your recommendations are therefore extremely important," Madam Randolph noted. "That is why YaraConnect serves as an excellent platform, providing you with readily available information whenever you need it."

She emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen the operational connection between Yara, input dealers, and farmers, ensuring that trusted fertilizer solutions are delivered alongside professional agronomic guidance.

Leveraging Digital Tools for Technical Capacity

The YaraConnect platform operates as a reward-based mobile application designed to equip last-mile retailers with comprehensive product information, application rates, agronomic guidance, and sales incentives.

Key features and benefits of the platform include:

  • Agronomic Guidance: Access to expert recommendations on fertilizer timing, placement, and dosage to guide smallholders.

  • Digital Loyalty Points: Opportunities to scan product QR codes and accumulate loyalty points for equipment and rewards.

  • Enhanced Customer Advisory: Real-time access to up-to-date product specifications to assist farmers with input decisions.

Building Sustainable Agribusinesses

Madam Randolph reaffirmed that Yara Ghana's commitment extends beyond driving product volume to supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of retail businesses across the region.

"Beyond supporting sales, we also want to help grow your businesses by enhancing the value you provide to farmers," she stated, describing the awards as a token of appreciation for the retailers' dedication and partnership.

She encouraged agri-input dealers across the country to download and maximize the digital application to expand their agronomic knowledge, boost operational capacity, and unlock growth opportunities.
